The Glennwood House has established a fund at the Laguna Beach Community Foundation to assist with its capital campaign goal to raise $3,375,000 to establish a unique housing community for up to 50 young adults, aged 18-45, who have developmental disabilities. The Glennwood House Foundation purchased the property at Ruby Street and South Coast Highway in Laguna Beach and plans to renovate it to establish state-of-the-art, ADA-compliant, dormitory-style living. The 17,000-square-foot facility will offer dining, recreational and social spaces where young adults can live in a safe, loving and inclusive environment and work nearby. Residents will pay a monthly fee that will cover assisted care, room and board, and a variety of programs designed to prepare them for independence. Glennwood House will offer its residents job placement, life skills, volunteer work and social and physical activities. Randy Larson, President of Glennwood House Foundation, stated, "Laguna Beach is a wonderful place that has embraced our special-needs community. In Laguna the young adults living at Glennwood will be able to experience new opportunities involving art, music, and sports in a beautiful environment." Laguna Beach Community Foundation encourages tax-deductible donations of any amount for the new Glennwood House Fund. Opportunities exist for room naming and donor recognition, or gifts may be anonymous.
